US healthcare system failing to satisfy commoners

There has been a conjecture both in the US society and among observers for days that the US health care system is failing to satisfy the common citizens and on the contrary is giving rise to strong resentments. Well, though many have also refuted this, the confusion has been continuing. But now it seems that this notion will get an edge owing to a recently released study.

What does the study corroborate? According to the estimation of study, a deep fear of the health care system persists among common Americans and almost all of them consider that health costs pose greatest threat to their personal financial security. What’s more the majority of Americans (amounting to 80%, if not more) have the view that U.S. health system is highly inefficient and works extremely poorly. In addition, the study revealed that 53 percent want that employers should provide the requisite health insurance while 37 percent hold up a mandate requiring all Americans to get health insurance.

Commenting on this Paul Keckley, Executive Director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, said in a statement, “They think it is wasteful, inefficient, complex and expensive.” “More than half believe that 50 percent or more of the dollars spent on health care in the United States are wasted.”

Is the situation getting too precarious? It seems so and the status of US can best be ascertained from a report by the nonprofit Commonwealth Fund. As stated by the report, in the health care scenario the United States of America is on the wane and the country ranks last among 19 industrialized nations on health outcomes, quality and efficiency while spending more.

On the other hand, in accordance with a Harvard study, medical bills bring about half of all personal bankruptcies in the United States. Deloitte made a painstaking survey in this regard among more than 4,000 people and it concluded that 94 percent is of the view that health costs could threaten their own financial futures regardless of the presence of health insurance.
