USA Network introduces new iPhone game

A new game has been introduced for the iPhone, a word puzzle game dubbed Letter Matrix and the credit, in this regard, goes to USA Network, the well-known entertainment company. There is no doubt that this is another landmark for iPhone as big companies start releasing games of their own in order to stay in the mix.

Now let’s concentrate on USA Network. USA Network, which is commonly referred to as USA, is an American cable television channel launched in 1977. The channel is renowned for showing a variety of original and second-run programming, from syndicated TV series (such as NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and the relocation of Law & Order: Criminal Intent from NBC) to edited movies. It is notable for its original series, particularly WWE Raw, Psych, Monk, and Burn Notice. These programs are viewed in 104 million homes, at least.

Now the question is regarding the necessity of the game since more than 9,000 games are already available on the iPhone. Does this indicate the growing popularity of games or the maturity of the iPhone as a business? Well, the pertinent environs seem to be divided on this. Whatever it is, the market is confident that this new initiative of USA Network will be appreciated to a large extent.

As stated by Jesse Redniss, Vice President of Digital for USA Network in New York, USA Network will introduce some of its properties as iPhone games. The new initiative is dubbed USA Network Games and is headed by Chris McCumber, executive vice president for marketing, brand strategy, and digital at USA Network. The company made the announcement today at the LA Games Conference.

But this is nothing new for USA Network as it has been investing in games for three years now. It should be mentioned that two years ago the company established a casual game portal, CharacterArcade.com, which now has more than 50 games.
