Michael Jackson – a true Pop icon
How does a man live? It is said that a person lives on account of his deeds and hence, it can be said that Michael Jackson will exist forever. He may not live now but he will continue to live even among the posterity through his exploits and will remain a Pop icon for eternity.
What make him surpass the limits of age? Is it due to his worldwide album whose sales were astounding? Or since he hailed from an impoverished background? It will be (I dare not use the word perhaps) wrong to appraise this wonderful in that way. There is no doubt that his successes were astounding but his ascendancy went far beyond the cash register. Truly speaking, he inspired generations and will continue to stimulate generations to come through dance moves, dictated fashion trends and raising awareness for social causes around the globe.
Let’s focus on some of his ever-inspiring exploits. The seventh child of the Jackson family made his debut in 1968 as a member of The Jackson 5 and started a solo career in 1971. His career graph did skyrocket with the release of 1982 album Thriller that remains the best-selling album of all time. four others best selling albums include —Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995). Keep in mind he is the person to popularize several physically complicated dance moves, such as the robot and the moonwalk, now iconic.
Jackson’s other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including the “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time”—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles, and the sale of over 750 million records. We shouldn’t forget to focus on another aspect. He was one of the most notable philanthropists, donating millions of dollars to the 39 charities he supported, and raising more through his own Heal the World Foundation.
Michael Jackson, through his struggle, endeavor, accomplishments and universal love will continue to inspire. He is truly – a Pop icon.
