The largest health risk that the world is facing at present is besity. Obesity in general is treated as a disease. It affects all aspects of our lives. It affects sex life to a great extent.

There is a feeling of low esteem and low confidence. But the good news is those who can slim down a bit can enjoy a great sex life. At the annual meeting of The North American Association for the Study of Obesity in Vancouver, Martin Binks the eminent psychologist from Duke University presented some interesting facts regarding weight loss.

According to him, the quality of sex life can be improved even if a person loses just ten percent of his total weight. A survey was carried out by Binks and his colleagues. The data was collected once in every three months for a period of two years. A standard questionnaire was prepared.

An interesting observation of the study was that as the weight reduced the quality of sexual life increased. The participants roughly lost 12 percent of their of their total weight. The participants were mostly women whose weights were on the extreme heavier side.

The questionnaire evaluated people on the basis of experiencing pleasure during sexual activity, sexual performance, sexual desire, feelings of sexual unattractiveness, and other sexual matters in general. All those who expressed feelings of low esteem and low confidence before undertaking the weight loss program felt much better after their weight loss. Even the heaviest who felt sexually unattractive felt much better after the weight loss.

Medicines for losing weight and counseling formed a part of the weight loss program. The participants lost an incredible average of 12 percent of their starting weight at the end of first three months itself. A lot of improvement was seen in sexual desire, willingness to be seen undressed and sexual attractiveness.

Binks has safely concluded that a reduction of 10 percent of ones total weight is the key to good health and can work wonders. It greatly improves the quality of sexual life and sexual well being. It is very important to feel comfortable with ones own body. A good body is an essential pre-requisite for a good sexual life.
