Intel wants style and substance rolled into laptops
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Leading chipmaker Intel Corp has now turned its attention to the style of laptops after providing enough substance for the same. Intel feels that laptop PCs should not be considered dull boring and "confined to a world of monotone grays and blacks." Intel has teamed up with Toray Ultrasuede (America), Inc, a self-styled guru in the world of technology and fashion to produce the “ultra-fashionable" laptop.
Powered by the all-powerful Intel Centrino Mobile technology, the laptop will be "dressed" in Ultrasuede fabric giving it a soft-touch. The Intel technology provides the substance, while the style is taken care of by Ultrasuede.
"Intel's technology innovation, coupled with the plush luxury of Ultrasuede fabric, offers a marriage of form and function with unlimited potential for fashionable personal expression. Intel has continually evolved what goes inside laptops," said Jodi Geniesse, the consumer mobile education manager at Intel. "Now we are working to inspire the industry to transform the outsides of laptops to better reflect consumers' mobile lifestyle."
Intel said that almost 73 percent of U.S. adult computer users wanted their technological products to reflect their lifestyle. 40 percent of them think that laptops are dull and boring or sterile. 60 percent of those surveyed admitted that they would love to have color and fabric on their laptops.
For a long time now people, especially the younger trendy generation, has said that laptop PCs were mean looking machines. Well, Intel has stepped forward to take care of the looks aspect as well. These fashionable laptops can easily be described as "chic."
"With technology becoming more and more a part of our lives, this was a natural extension for Ultrasuede. Like Intel, we are constantly looking to enable new and exciting products and uses for consumers," said Des McLaughlin of Toray Ultrasuede. He added that the integration of fashion with Intel would give a personal touch to laptop PCs.
