Google teams up with Mozilla and Real for cross promotion of products
SAN FRANCISCO - Google Inc has signed up a cross promotion deal with both Real networks and Mozilla, which sees Mozilla's Firefox browser and Real Player's audio and video software being distributed along with Google's toolbar. The other two companies will reciprocate this arrangement.
Google Toolbar has been the only software developed by Google Inc., which has lived up to the hype. The main reason is that the toolbar provides the comfort of searching content on web instead of visiting google.com each time. Google had already signed a promotion agreement with Real networks in 2004.
Google Chief Executive, Eric Schmidt said, "Real has been one of Google's most important distribution partners for the past two years, and we are delighted to broaden and deepen that relationship. Google and Real will continue to work together in innovative ways to further improve the Web experience."
Google is on a promotional path with agreements signed with Dell, Adobe Systems and Sun Microsystems in recent months. The deal is being seen as an alternative to Microsoft with three different companies coming under a single roof. Mozilla's Firefox web browser is competing with Microsoft's Internet Explorer and has declared that it now has reached 15 percent of browser market while Real network's Real Player offers an alternative to Windows Media Player.
Google has included Firefox and Real Player in its Google Pack, a software suite that is offered as an alternative to Microsoft's MS Office.
