The MP3 player saga

It is a gross understatement to say that the iPod has changed the way the world listens to music. Your average teenager will blink at you if you were to mention cassette players that not long ago were the only way to listen to music. The ubiquitous MP3 player has emerged as the big daddy of all music players and has changed the outlook of the composers as well as the listeners.

The best thing about a MP3 player is that you can carry it around with you wherever you go. These gadgets are so small that they can fit into your back pocket without taking up much space. Also the storage capacity of a player these days is immense. You can store up to a 100 songs on an average player; something that could only be dreamt about a decade ago.

Plus these songs need not be of a single artist. You can pick and chose according to your taste and any number of permutations and combinations are easily dealt with. The best thing with all this is that these players need not cost the roof. A simple no shakes MP3 player will only put you back by about $70.

Basically MP3 players are of tow categories; one is of the "jukebox" variety and is usually contained in the laptop. These jukeboxes can store thousands of songs and have gigabytes of memory. The other category is the Flash MP3 players which store bewildering amounts of memory in a solid-state chip. It is these players which have triggered a boom in the MP3 music market. Of course, the iPod Shuffle has played a vital role here as well, but it is amazing to note that these devices have evolved into necessities over a period of time.

When you decide that you have to buy a MP3 player opt for Flash based ones since they offer simple means of transferring music from you PC onto the player. Plus when you choose make sure that USB2 standard is applicable in the player. Get better headphones if you are a music geek. No sense wasting money each time when about $30 will get you great quality headphones. Finally take care that the battery is not fully worn out before recharging.

Some of the best known Flash players include Apple iPod Nano 4GB, Sony Bean 1GB, MobiBlu DAH-1500 1GB and Creative Zen Nano Plus 1GB.
