Apple working towards resolving video glitches in Intel-based Macs
Computer giant Apple has confirmed that it is looking into reports that the new Intel-based iMacs are experiencing video problems that is preventing the graphics from coming into full-effect. The video glitch is very noticeable when users start the Front Row, which is Apple's remote-controlled media software application.
Users reportedly experienced some glitches like horizontal lines appearing on the monitor. "Access the menus in Front Row, [and] you will get streaks of white lines across your screen," a user was quoted as saying. Apple said that it was aware of the problem and was looking into it, "Apple is aware of this and is looking into it," the Cupertino-Calif-based company said in a statement.
"If a customer has any technical issues, they should contact AppleCare." Apple launched the first Intel-based Mac at the MacWorld Expo in San Francisco last month, six moths ahead of schedule. The first Intel-based Macs were originally scheduled to ship in June this year.
ConsumerMachine, an online group, which resolves Mac-related problems said in a posting on the site that the current glitch was easily resolved, "The issue is best described as faint and intermittent 'patches' of whatever graphics are on the screen appearing in random locations ("tearing").
Aside from the Front Row menu system, these problems also persist when viewing movies or DVDs through the Front Row interface." the posting said. But American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu has refuted speculations that this glitch would lead to a recall of the machines, "We believe the video glitch with Front Row can be easily fixed with a software update," he said.
