Lady McCartney's emergency calls
LONDON - Sussex police have got a high number of calls from Lady Heather Mills McCartney, which could prompt them not to take future calls seriously, according to Chief Superintendent Kevin Moore.
Moore said that it was not his personal opinion but there were a number of "disproportionate" number of emergency calls. "We are having to spend a disproportionate amount of time on one particular person,” Moore said. "We are duty-bound to respond, but clearly people who make lots of calls to the police run the risk of being treated as the little boy who cried wolf."
Lady McCartney however said the police had encouraged her to call them, "I didn't waste police time - they encouraged me to use them when I was being harassed," she said, adding that she called the police "probably six times in 10 months".
Lady McCartney's spokesman said that she was receiving death threats and was being followed about. That is why she was nervous, he added.
"If your family was having death threats and the police had informed you about them, then the police would be keeping an eye on what's going on," said Lady McCartney. "I wasn't given any security for me and my daughter so its rubbish, as most of the stories are."
Heather Mills is in the process of a divorce from ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. The pair have a daughter, Beatrice.
