Radcliffe smitten by hairdresser

Daniel Radcliffe is having a typical Harry Potteresque life in that the same growing up pains that the boy wizard goes through in the books are being reflected in his alter ego's real life.

In a recent interview that Radcliffe gave to the Time magazine for the promotion of the new film, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” he admitted that he was strongly attracted to co-star Emma Watson, "I had a big crush on her when I first met her, definitely,” he said. “But she's more like a sister now, so it would be a bit incestuous. It's too weird.” It has now emerged that Radcliffe is in fact smitten by a 23-year-old hairdresser Irish-born Amy Byrne.

The Daily Mirror reports that the two have grown very close to each other and have gone on several dates together. It is rumored that the couple got close during the filming of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in the summer and have spent a great deal of time together since then.

And even though Miss Byrne is now working as a hairstylist and make-up artist on a Turkish movie set and Radcliffe is on a whirlwind tour to promote the new movie, which opens in three weeks, they have kept in touch. It is also reported that Radcliffe visits Byrne's home regularly. Sources close to the couple say that Radcliffe and Miss Byrne are constantly on phone or busy sending text messages to each other.

"Daniel has called round on a number of occasions. Amy says it is so she can help him get dressed. She does his hair and make-up before he goes to various publicity events in London. They are very close friends. As to whether there's a relationship, I have no knowledge of that," said Douglas Jackson, the owner of a small semi-detached house in Watford where Byrne stays.

Radcliffe's publicist Vanessa Davies responded by saying, "Yes, Daniel and Amy are good friends. Daniel has many friends. There is no more to it than a friendship. Daniel is a very social person and he goes round to people's houses a lot."
