Back to Britney: Son's photos and millions
The cover page exclaims, ''Baby LOVE!''. That is what the latest issue of People will carry on the cover. Just one month after Britney threatened to sue a couple of sites for having posted her son's photos on the net illegally, she has finally sold them to the People's magazine for a deal running into millions.
The pact had been in the pipeline for some time and this time around the Friday issue will spell the above exhilaration, splashed with the latest cover photos of Sean Preston, born on Sept 14 this year, to Britney Spears and Kevin Federline.
The issue's cover shows Sean Preston held by mommy Spears, wrapped in a baby blanket and accompanied by daddy Federline.
Earlier, Britney had almost given the photos to People for print when she was suddenly gripped by her nascent mother's conscience, and she stepped back in guilt, saying that selling the photos was like selling her baby.
That was in October.
In the latest issue of People, she has ridden herself of those initial inhibitions. She speaks openly now, about how her life has transformed and how she enjoys the simple things in life like enjoying the afternoon siesta with her infant.
The cover story gives a peek into the family's upcoming Thanksgiving celebrations, right from viewing Macy's on TV to afternoon partying, with all the traditional feasts thrown in between, not to mention the Christmas fervor permeating the household with visitors.
If the grapevine has it correct, her simple pleasures of life may soon be short lived, if she stars in Broadways' Sweet Charity.
Ever since Christina Applegate, the Broadway star broke her leg on stage, reports say that Spears might be roped in to play her part from January. Spears was seen attending a recent performance of the production with Kevin. And though hubby Kevin has his own reasons for dissuading Britney against the offer, the producers plan to break his resistance by luring him into a dance job on the stage. Though Spears is toying with the idea to appear in the Broadway musical, confirmations are yet to come in.
Sweet Charity is being likened to the basic personality flavor carried by Britney, who has acquired limelight recently for some unstable wedding moves. The dancer protagonist of the story has got a similar vein where she can't seem to end her perpetual quest to find Mr. Right.
Britney's recent deluge of family directed appearances and initiatives also include creating the Spears Family Hurricane Relief Foundation to rehabilitate Katrina victims. Additionally, The Britney Spears Foundation has granted funds to Habitat for Humanity and also to the East Baton Rouge Parish School System to help relocate around 7,000 affected students into their ambit.
The decision to let the globe view her son may have deliberately coincided with the promotion of Britney's recently launched new album, B in the Mix: The Remixes. Whatever the real reason, the photos have seemingly served as cement to the fissures in the happy family image. Lasting or temporary, time can only tell.
