Wedding bells for Elton John and David Furnish
Sir Elton John will marry his partner David Furnish on December 21, the very day Britain will legalize gay civil partnerships. The singer said that the event will be a low-key affair with only the couple's parents present.
In an interview to the British Magazine 'Attitude' British pop star Elton John talked of his plans to wed his boyfriend David Furnish, a Toronto-born film producer. The two met in a party in 1993 and have been together since. The singer believes that he has been able to overcome his alcohol and drug addictions with his boyfriend's support.
It was expected that the wedding would be grand affair with all of John's celebrity friends invited. But the couple has decided to keep it a quiet family affair. “It'll be a very small family affair and then in the evening there'll be a soirée somewhere, which we have yet to work out,” said John. Both John's and Furnish's parents will act as witnesses to the civil union.
“But the ceremony itself will be David's parents and my parents and the two of us. They'll be our witnesses. That's the way we want to do it. They've been so fantastic to us and so supportive. Out of respect for their support, we want to just keep it small. Not to make a ballyhoo of the ceremony,” added John.
It is going to be an “incredibly emotional day” for the couple. “I've always considered myself committed to Elton and he's the person that I want to spend the rest of my life with,” said Furnish, expressing his commitment.
The Civil Partnership Act, a new legislation that provides gay couples legal protections will soon come into force in Britain. “But from a social standpoint, I think it is hugely significant. It is a major, major change. It is one of the defining issues of our times. And I applaud Britain for embracing the diversity of our society,” John was quoted praising the decision.

to say »
» Mr.
Congrats to both of you !
Thank God - the world is finally realizing ...we are all on people, one love, one god,one world. Harmony happens when judgement ends. Anyone who condems another human being for their love and bond is flat out "wrong". Hopefully all of the USA will realize this and put an end to such horid discrimination and closed minds.
We are all on this planet together to love and pay taxes!
So let gays be gays and straights be straights - I am proud of Elton and David for showing the world what really matters is simply love and good role models for others.
THANK YOU < THANK YOU < THANK YOU
Best of luck to you both .
