'Star Trek' voted most wanted in survey

A generation passes, but its hangover remains amidst people who have lived in those times. In a recent pool commissioned by interactive TV firm house, Home Media Networks, where over 1000 viewers participated, Star Trek, originally broadcast in 1966 in the US, has topped the list. In a recent pool commissioned by interactive TV firm house, Home Media Networks, where over 1000 viewers participated, Star Trek, originally broadcast in 1966 in the US, has topped the list.

The TV series which was originally broadcast amidst fears of poor ratings, was an instant hit back in 1966 and since then has spawned numerous clones, the latest being Nemesis in 2002.

However, Enterprise, it's latest spin-off TV series, was cancelled in February this year after it registered poor ratings.

Start trek has also become one of the most successful movie franchisee, inspiring atleast 5 movies with different themes and subject.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the popular teen fantasy-action series came second in the list, while the comedy sitcom Friends came third.

Among British sitcoms, Faulty Towers got the highest ranking in fourth place.

Sci-fi serious features mainly in the top 10 and included along with Star Trek, the series Blake's 7 and US shows Babylon 5 and Stargate.

However, there was no mention of the methodology used in the survey and no information was also provided about the 1000 sample size.
