Cruise, Holmes expecting their baby
NEW YORK: Movie star Tom Cruise and his actress lover and fiancee Katie Holmes, are expecting a baby. Confirming the news, Cruise's publicist, his sister Lee Anne DeVette, said in a statement that Tom and Katie are very excited.
Cruise and Holmes are yet to get into wedlock. No details of any plan were given. The baby would be Cruise's first biological child. He had adopted two children when he and actress Nicole Kidman were man and wife, but divorced in 2001.
Cruise, 43, married twice, began seeing Holmes, 27, in mid-April and proposed to her in June at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. They announced their engagement the next day. Several people took it as a publicity stunt with a view to promote their respective movies, Cruise's "War of the Worlds" and Holmes' "Batman Begins".
Holmes had an earlier relationship with "American Pie" actor Chris Klein, which she broke in early 2005. Cruise, who was first married to actress Mimi Rogers, several years his elder, divorced her in 1990. After his divorce from Kidman, he had a two-year relationship with Spanish actress Penelope Cruz.
Cruise is now busy with his action movie "Mission: Impossible III".
Holmes, a Catholic, has vowed to convert to Cruise's Scientology religion.
