LONDON - Lord Justice Scott Baker, who is the new coroner in charge of the inquest into the deaths of Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed, has said that there was a need to reign in the costs connected with the whole affair. Justice Baker is the fourth person to head the inquest and replaces Baroness Butler-Sloss who resigned earlier this year.

WASHINGTON - The defeat of President Bush's planned immigration legislation this week underlines the fact that he no longer has the power to persuade the Congress to back his ideas simply because the Democrats are now in control. AMSTERDAM - Four gay men have been arrested over a weird case involving gang rapes in order to spread HIV infection in the Netherlands. Police confirmed that two of the men were arrested in Groningen because they were supposedly infection other people intentionally.

PRAIA DA LUZ - A Russian man is now being treated as a suspect in the kidnapping of four-year-old Madeleine McCann, Portuguese media reported today. Police detained the man in Praia da Luz on Wednesday afternoon at his apartment and later took him in for questioning.
