Following President Bush's veto on a previous funding bill passed by the Congress demanding a time frame for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq, Democrats have passed another bill, funding the troops with just enough money to carry on the fight for another four months.

LONDON - The condition of ethnic minorities in Britain is very dismal and at least 4 out of 10 live in poverty, according to a report by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. The study also said there were innate differences between different ethnic groups as well.

A British mother who coerced her two children -- a girl aged three and a boy of two years -- to fight against each other, captured the sequence in a video camera and enjoyed the footage with her mother and two sisters, has been found guilty along with the three by a Plymouth court.

WASHINGTON - At Virginia Tech it appears everyone who came into contact with 23-year-old madman Cho Seung-Hui noticed his disturbing and erratic behavior. Around two years ago, Cho was investigated by police for stalking two women.

Many of the survivors at the worst-ever carnage at the Virginia Tech University Monday that killed 33 wonder why the university authorities failed to alert those on the campus immediately after the first of the instances of shooting occurred around 7.15 a.m. in one of the dormitories. Had that happened, they aver, the impact of the second round of shooting that took place at 9.45 a.m. would have been comparatively lesser.

The United States said Tuesday the deadlock over the blocking of $25 million in a Macau bank that stalled the North Korean disarmament talks has been broken and asked the Pyongyang regime to take steps to close down the nuclear plant at Yongbyon before the deadline expires by the weekend.

LONDON - The BBC has named several of British Prime Minister Tony Blair's aides in the cash-for-honours scandal. The BBC said that two of Mr Blair's aides were connected with the injunction handed to the network on Friday preventing it from revealing details about an alleged e-mail between the two.
